Pantoprazole Tablet- reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. The medication belongs to a class of Proton Pump Inhibitors(PPIs). It is used to treat acidity, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and peptic ulcer disease. It is commonly advised medicine due to its quick healing action and effectiveness. Pantaprazole is easily available in multiple dosages and formulations. 

Pantoprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor. It heals the damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid. The tablets treat existing ulcers and prevent their recurrence, mostly in combination with antibiotics to destroy Helicobacter pylori bacteria. It manages conditions that cause the stomach to produce high levels of acid. The adult dosage for this medication includes 40mg once daily for up to eight weeks. Mechanism of Pantoprazole tablets

Pantoprazole is formulated as a delayed-release tablet. It went through the bloodstream to acid producing cells in the stomach lining. In the acidic environment of these cells, pantoprazole converts into its active form. Then a strong covalent bond with H+/K+- ATPase enzyme system(also known as proton pump) forms, which is responsible for pumping hydrogen ions into the inner space of the stomach. This improves digestion and causes an effective relief. 

By deactivating this pump, pantoprazole effectively blocks the last stage of stomach acid secretion. This acid secretion lasts for an extended period, often more than 24 hours, until the body produces new proton pumps and transfers them to the cell surface.

Uses of Pantoprazole Tablets

• GERD: The medication is effectively used in the short-term treatment of GERD, a condition where the acid of the stomach flows back into the esophagus and causes heartburn.

• Peptic Ulcer Disease: The tablets may be used to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers.

• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: It is a condition where the stomach produces excessive acid due to a tumor. Pantoprazole helps manage the overproduction of acid.
• Erosive Esophagus: The tablets treat the injury in the lining of the esophagus caused by acid reflux.

Side Effects of Pantoprazole Tablets

• Swallow the medicine whole. Do not crush, chew or split the medicine as it affects its absorption.
• For effective results, take the tablets once daily in the morning, ideally 30-60 minutes before having a meal.
